In the place where three rivers, Pyriflegethon, Acheron and Kokytos met, flowing out from the underground according to a legend, there was also one of the entries to the empire of Hades and his wife Pesephone. About three thousand years ago, the undergound Temple of Hades was constructed there, with the Nekromanteion Oracle above. The oracle included purgatorial rooms, where the inquierers were preparing to accept theit prophecy even for several days. The oracle itself could be entered through one of the three gates that remained well-preserved till nowadays. The underground temple dedicated to Hades is also partially accessible for the public.
