The Monastery of Saint Andreas (one of the apostles) can be found near the village of Peretata in the east of Cephalonia. It comes frm the Byzantine era but it was rebuilt several times, especially in the 16th century and or the last time in the 1950s after a devastating earthquake. Yet this brought a unique discovery like by magic - as the plaster fell down, precious mural paintings were discovered. Today the monastery is hiding Andreas´ relics, and its museum part exhibits manuscripts, paintings, fabrics and religious objects.
