Folklore Museum and Korais Library
In the very centre of the island capital, there is a edifice hiding valuable collections of great cultural and historic value - the Folklore Museum and the Korais Library. The library is one of the oldest on the whole Greek territoy and with its more than one hundred thousand of books of which many are gifts, some of them given as a present by Napoleon, it ranks among the jewels of archiving. The locals can borrow the books and take them home, or make them deliver to their home. On the second floor of the building, you will find the Folklore Museum exhibiting objects of daily use used by the locals between two and four hundreds of years ago. Both the museum and the library are open on all working days till the afternoon. They can be accessed for a fee (the entrance for children and students is for free).
