Kontokali
Kontokali Resort
Kontokali is located on a green peninsula in the Gouvia bay about 5 km north of Kerkyra. The place was named after the Venetian ruler Cristoforo Condocali who gained the territory after his successful participation in the Battle of Lepanto.
Tourist background and places of interest
In the resort you will find everything you need to spend a comfortable holiday, including tavernas with tasty cuisine, little shops, and bars with refreshment on the beach. There is a supermarket close to the main road, with an ATM machine nearby. From the resort you can go for a trip to the popular destination of the island capital Kerkyra, which is very well accessible from Kontokali by bus. The journey takes between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the place where you get on the bus. The town has one of the oldest churches on the island, and you will also find the remains of a Venetian castle nearby.
The beach
The long sandy beach that has been awarded the EU Blue Flag for its cleanliness and top quality has a gentle entry into the water, and so, it is also suitable for children and non swimmers. You will find there umbrellas with deckchairs, showers, and a beach bar with refreshment.
