The dripstone cave of Dikteo Andro can be found on the Lassithi Plateau. According to a legend, it was the supreme ancient god, Zeus, who was born there. You can´t really miss the entryway to the Lassithi Plateau - after you arrive fromMalia, in the mountain pass of Anbelou, you will be welcomed by a row of windmills. The road passes all around the plateau. In the village of Psychro, you will pay for the parking and you are ready for the ascent to the cave. You can go walking or on a donkeyback for a small fee. The about 800 m long path requires firm shoes and your attention - after all it is a donkey path. You will be rewarded by a beautiful view down on the plateau which will open up in front of you. The cave is nicely cool inside - it is probably the best airconditioned place on Crete.
