From Sitia, after the village of Anaroukas, the signposts in the direction of Palekastro will take you on a comfortable tarmac road to the left to the Moni Toploui Monastery. You will be driving up a hill through a deserted landscape.
Nearby you will find the Vai Beach with the only palm grove in Europe that used to stand there already in the Middle Ages. 2 km north of Vai, you will fin dthe reuins of the ancient polis of Itanos.
