General information on Gialos 

Gialos can by found by all the lovers of blue sea, hot sun and goldish sand literally only a few steps from the port of Ormos lying in the same bay and serving as the main island port.

Beach

The very popular beach of Gialos, although being part of the Ios capital, is not so crowded with tourists compared to another famous beach, Mylopotas, located only a few kilometres away. Therefore everyone can find their place in the shade under the umbrella, or indulge in the sun’s rays to have a nice skin tan. The sand is nicely soft and is goldish to white. The water is clean, of several shades of blue.

Tourist equipment

In the beach surroundings, there are catering facilities including cafés, bars and restaurants, and obviously souvenir shops and various options of accommodation including luxury hotels but also more economical private rooms.

What to do in Gialos?

Given that the beach is located very neat the capital, all the places of interest are easily accessible from there. Whether you go to the nearby port of Ormos or to the few kilometres fat resort of Mylopotas, in every single place there are new experiences waiting for you, a new interesting place or another fragment of your mosaic of typical Greek holiday.

You can get to the capital of Gialos in about a 20-minute walk, or you can use a bus (which is faster). The bus will take you also to Mylopotas, the most famous resort of the island, renown for its nightlife. Other places worth visiting are the nearby beaches of Koubara and Kolitsani.
