In the north-west of the island in the place called Kioniwhich, one of the most popular local resorts, you can visit the St. Nicholas Monastery. It stands out for its ancient column apparently coming from the original temple that used to stand there long time ago on the place of the today’s monastery building. Despite the devastating earthquake in the 1950s, the whole precincts have been surprisingly well preserved.
