The Venetian fortification of Lefkada was built as early as during the 14th century, yet throughout history it was rebuilt several times after being hit by natural disasters and affected by other historical events. Only little of it has been preserved till nowadays, and so, you can see there some perimeter walls, remains of guns and other parts of the medieval fortress that served as a point of defence against raiders.

The remains of the Agia Mavra fortress can be found near the Lefkada capital close to the road on which visitors from the Greek mainland arrive.
