Panagia Kakkaviotissa, a completely unique chapel, is hidden in the cave on the peak of the Kakavos mountain near the capital of Myrina and the village of Thanos. The whole scenery is truly impressive, exuding a powerful mystical atmosphere.

When climbing up to the hill, you will see a weird protruding rock with a vault, and when coming closer, this mysterious sanctuary will appear in full beauty. The interesting thing is that unlike other religious buildings, this one has no roof, since it is made by the rock massif. The interior is not too much ornamental but still it has its charm.

And what is the best way to get there? The best option is to go for a nice walk through the forest with exuberant green vegetation and plenty of flora. In about 20 minutes, you will find yourself right in front of the sanctuary.
