The splendid Agios Raphael Monastery is hidden amidst the flood of flowers near the village of thermi in the north-east of Lesbos. The snow-white construction with red roofs will catch your attention with charming vaults and little towers with plenty of dark windows. The monastery was built in the place of a original basilica. Like other religious historical sites on Lesbos, it was also demolished or damaged many times, and then restored until gaining its current appearance. Its interior is hiding precious paintings, decorated floors, and icons. The beautiful gardens in its surroundings are also admirable, with their abundant greenery and a magnificent view on the landscape.
