The Yeni Mosque as a witness of the Turkish dominion of the Lesbos island can be found in the place of the original Turkish market (Epano Skala) in the island capital of Mytilene. It was built in the 19th century and boasts typical architecture of Islamic architecture. It is quite well-preserved, and so, you can admire there the traditional decorations of its interior. The mosque is not only a religous place where Muslims gather to contemplate and study the Koran but it also serves for cultural purposes - there are exxhibitions, concerts and more interesting events being held.
