Mytilini Resort

The town of Mytilini with 40 000 inhabitants is located in the south-east of Lesbos. There are 15 primary schools and the largest university of the Aeegean region with more than 3,5 thousand students. The whole town is built on seven hillocks and thanks to the proximity of Anatolia, which can be seen not only on the various artifacts in the local museum but also on churches and houses from various historical eras. Today´s Mytilini is a place where the history is wedded to the present. The main boulevard of the town is literally dotted with bars, tavernas, cafés and shops.

The main town´s landmark is a vast castle surrounded by a dense pine forest stretching up to the coast. During the summer months, its fortification serves as the scenery for many cultural events including concerts, theatre performances or festivals. Another interesting place is also the port with the waterfront which gets lively early in the morning and is pulsating till late at night. As the island is renowned for the traditional Greek spirit of ouzo, in Mytilini you will find the famous factory, Matis Ouzo, that is certainly worth visiting.
