The little St. John the Baptist Monastery, an old stone building with white facing, probably from the 15th century and wrapped in many legends, can be found on the western coast of Meganissi Island, close to the beach. The building is said to be carried out by one of the nuns. When the sanctuary was destroyed by raiders, she did everything she could to gather the funds for its reconstruction. Her tomb can be found in the monastery precincts to commemorate her meritorious deeds.
