Papanikolis Cave
Save
The huge karst cave of Papanikolis that played an important role during the World War II, is situated near the south-west coast of Meganissi Island close to Lefkada. It was named after the famous Greek submarine that was hiding there against the attacks during the war. The height of the entrance wall is really impressive - about 30 m - and together with the colourful sea in different hues of blue, you will remember it long time after you leave. Its total size is also extraordinary - the cave has almost 4 000 m2. It is no wonder then that it is the second largest sea cave of all the seas washing Greece and all its islands.
