Archaeological Musem in the capital
The Archaeological Museum of the Mykonos island was founded more than one hundred years ago and it can be found in the port of the capital. Its collection includes various objects and archaeological finds dated bacj to the prehistoric era but covering also the subsequent periods. You can see there vases, amphoras and more ceramics, jewellery, statues (including a naked Heracles which is a unique statue of its kind), clay figures, grave ledgers and tombstones. Most of the exhibits come from the nearby islands of Delos and Rhenia where some of the most significant aracheological sites in Greece were discovered.
The musem is open daily except Mondays and it can be accessed for a fee (there is a discount for children and students).
