The admirably snow-white Church of Panagia Protothrone is located in the very central point of Naxos Island in a village called Chalki. Under the sunshine, its incredible white colour leaps to the eye. The sanctuary is supposed to be built in the 9th century and it is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. In its interior, the believers can visit the Chapel of Agios Akyndynos with precious paintings. Today the whole complex still serves the religious needs of all believers from and outside the island.
