The real jewel of religious architecture, the Church of Theotokou, can be visited by all admirers of Naxos historical sites in the village of Engares (also called Egares or Eggares), located along the coast in the north-west of the island. Already from a distance the visitors will be captivated by the snow-white building with colourful roofs in the typical red and blue colours, golden ornamentation, vaults, and several crosses as the proud symbols of the church splendour.
