The more than 30 years old Archaeological Museum of Naxos Island is located in the very capital in the premises of the Venetian castle. The five-storey building of a former school is a historical monument and the collections inside offer an overview of the ancient history of the island since the prehistoric times. Therefore you can admire there marble statues, clay figures, ceramic, artistic objects, tools, vases, tombstones, fragments of mosaic pavement with scenes from nature and mythology, golden jewellery, and more rare discoveries made in the island territory.
