For a real trip into the antiquity, to the times of mythology, powerful deities and the developed Greek civilization, you can visit the village of Sangri located near the very centre of Naxos Island. It is the place where the old Temple of Demeter is located, of which quite a large part has been preserved. Despite its age of about 2 500 years, you can still stare in amazement at the advanced acrhitecture, marble pillars and the remains of the perimeter walls of the huge temple, dedicated to Demeter, the goddess of fertility and agriculture, as a thankyou for the fertility of the landscape.
