Platamonas Resort
The port, charming town and at the same time the seaside resort of Platamonas is located in the region of the Olympica Riviera on Greek mainland. Although the place is not really big and has emerged out of a fishing settlement, today the resort is quite lively, tempting regularly a great number of tourists.
Platamonas beach
Besides nice sunbathing and swimming in the sea, the local beach also offers a beautiful scenery with mountain ranges and a medieval castle on a green hill in the background. What´s more, the water there is very clean and crystal clear, while the beach surface is formed by sand and pebbles. Swimming there is safe, since the seabed slopes into the water only gently. Of course, you can also vent your energy there practicing water sports. The beach in Platamonas has been awarded the EU Blue Flag for top quality.
What to do in Platamonas
During the day, the streets of Platamonas are lively mini boulevards with crowds of tourists flowing there to take a rest in some of the local tavernas and restaurants, or go shopping. The bustle in the resort doesn´t fade out even during the evening and night. At the, the resort becomes lively with the energetic rhythm of the dancing clubs, bars and discos, and other venues tempting you to dance and taste their colourful drinks. It could seem that Platamonas is mainly for the young, but it is not really like that. Those who don´t enjoy the night entertainment can visit the more peaceful parts of the resort, and sit down in a taverna over a glass of delicious Greek wine and a tasty seafood dish. On your walk through the town, you should definitely not miss the visit of the medieval Platamon castle, rusing majestically on a woody hill in the background of the resort. Not only there is a magnificent view on the landscape but you can feel there the several hundreds of years long history, as the castle was built as early as in the 13th century and served as a point of defence against the merciless raiders.
