Parga Venetian Castle

The remains of an old Venetian fortification with a castle can be found in the very town of Parga, or above it, to be more precise - on a wooded hill offering a particularly nice view on the bay, the sea, the houses in the port, and the green surrroundings. Like other Venetian fortresses, it served as a protection against aggressive raiders. The original construction was built already in the 11th century, yet during the subsequent dozens and hundreds of years, it was rebuilt several times because of being destroyed by merciless barbarians and town occupiers. They have all left their imprint there, and so today, you can encounter elements of both Venetian and oriental architecture in the place. You can also visit a small shop and buy some souvenir, or refresh yourself in a café.
