Parga - Valtos Resort

The charming port and the small town of Parga stretches on the north-west coast of the Greek mainland, washed by the Ionian Sea. In the proximity, you can find the popular island of Corfu. The municipality can boast typical Greek architecture, similar to the one you can find in seaside resorts. It consists of colourful houses built in a cascade on a slope above a blue bay surrounded by green olive trees and rocks. Moreover, the rich history left there many traces, today admired by thousands of visitors; including a Venetian castle from the 11th century.

Valtos beach

Nonetheless, the main Parga attraction are its beaches. Besides the most famous beach of Krioneri, you can also find there the beach of Valtos, located about 2 km from the centre, and so, accessible by walking, a boat or a boat taxi. It is a vast beach formed by little soft pebbles and surrounded by magnificent scenery of green vegetation and turquoise blue water. Despite being one of the most popular beaches on the island and visited by many holidaymakers, it is big enough so that everyone could find space on their own. There is also a choice of diffrent water sports including water skiing, paddle boats, riding a banana boat, windsurfing and diving.

Valtos surroundings

In Valtos you can stay on the very coast in some of the hotels or private rooms. Don´t expect any hilarious merrymaking though. At night you can go for a walk along the coast, or sit down in a taverna over a glass of something tasty, or go to eat.

Near the beach there are historical sites that are definitely worth seeing. One of them is the Venetian fortification from where all the surrounding landscape will lie open before you. If you don´t mind to climb (which can be a bit challenging), you can visit the Vlacherna Monastery and the church above the beach. The reward waiting for you on the top is really worth it.

Another possibility to make a nice walking trip is to go from the Valtos beach to the Ali Pasha fortress (about 5 km far away), or you can walk up to the charming beach of Agios Sostis and a bit more remote beach of Sarakiniko.
