This rare site from the Mycenaen era can be found in the east of the Peloponnese Peninsula a few kilometres from the resort of Nafplion. The settlement was built up about 3500 years ago but its history is dated back to more than 5000 BC. You can see there remains of defence perimeter walls (the Cyclopean masonry), and a few more ruins. Some of them are up to one kilometre long and several metres wide. Like in case of Mycenae and Troja, it was Heinrich Schliemann who greatly contributed to the discovery of this place, and thanks to him, this unique site has been put on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
