Kamiros ancient town
The ancient town of Kamiros i slocated on the west coast 34 km south-west of Rhodes. It lies on a hillock covered with pines, looking down to the sea. Kamiros was first constructed in the 2nd millenium BC, being a flourishing settlement between 1000 and 400 BC. It was destroyed by an earthquake twice and it has never been restored. Its ruins are well preserved though and give a good idea about the dexterity of the ancient Greece: you will find there an amphitheatre, different public edifices, temples, baths, a fountain, and houses with staircases, of which some have been restored partially.
