The Perissa Beach is located 15 km south-east of the capital of Fira close to the resort of Perissa. Both the beach surface and the entry into the water are formed of fine black sand mixed with small pebbles. The beach is unique for its many panoramas - in the southern direction it stretches on almost 4.5 km of flat landscape along Agios Georgios up to Exomytis, while i nthe north, it is borded by a 350  high rock of Mesa Vouno, which is an important archaeological site. Although the beach is beautiful also during the day, its beauty can be seen especially at night when the rock is illuminated and it glares to the remote surroundings.

The Perissa Beach is a very well-know one, so it can be quite full during the peak season.

Once you get weary of idling on the beach, there is a small path leading from the Perissa Beach to the rock of Mesa Vouno and the archaeological site you can walk through on a donkey.
