Red Beach
The Red Beach is one of the most famous beaches on Santorini. The rock massif bordering the beach is dark red to black. This colour then passes to light grey and white, forming an interesting contrast of the beach and the rock. On the beach itself there are sharp grains of red sand, and in the crystal clear water, there anchor some of the boats with visitors.
The beach can be accessed on foot, too. Either you can walk from the carpark above on the rock (on your way down, you can enjoy the beautiful view on the whole bay), or you can walk about 10 minutes from the villages of Akrotiri, where you visit the local castle or the archaeological site .
If you are lazy to walk and you didn’t come by car, you can also use boat transport from the Perissa beach or the nebo Akrotiri resort.
As it has been already said, the Red Beach is one of the most famous and most visited beaches on Santorini. Its bay is quite small - is has about 300 m in diameter, out of which 200 m form the most interesting part, so in the peak season, the beach can be crowded. In all cases once you are on Santorini, you should definitely go there.
