Orthodox Cathedral
This impressive snow-white religious building rises proudly in the centre of Santorini capital, being a true gem of the local architecture. It stands in the place of the original church from the first half of the 19th century, as after the earthquake in the 1950s, the church was literally razed to ground, and so, a new sanctuary had to be built. So, despite the history of the cathedral not being so varied as it is the case of many similar constructions, it is still a very precious monument with a lot to see. The row of white vaults, uneven architectural elements, a white cross on the top, paintings and mosaics - all that is tempting hundreds or even thousands of visitors every day.
