The Kaldera on Santorini emerged during a massive volcanic explosion about 3 500 years ago, with one part of the rounded island falling in and the crater being flooded by sea, reaching up to 400 m of depths in its deepest places.

With its steep stone slopes, blue water and white villages on the top, Kaldera is the most well-known place on Santorini. The view of it when arriving at the port is simply stunning.

From its top with many tavernas, you can savour the unique view on the nearby volcanic islands of Aspronisi, Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni and Thirassia.
