Galissas resort

The recreation resort of Galissas is one of the best, most beautiful and also largest localities for relaxation on Syros Island, which is why there are still more and more tourists coming to the island. It is located only about 8 km from the capital of Ermoupolis, and so it can be easily accessed by car, on a motorbike, or walking. Yet the best option is to stay there and simply walk down to the beach from your hotel, pension or campsite.

Galissas beaches

The beach in Galissas is covered with fine sand, also on the seabed. The entry into the water is shallow and very gentle, so the place is also suitable for less good swimmers and families with small children. Due to the cleanliness of its water and the general quality, the beach has been awarded the EU Blue Flag. For its visitors, Galissas offers all the comfort and services, including deckchairs, umbrellas, changing cubicles, toilets and showers. The overall nice atmosphere of the resort is completed by the surrounding green vegetation, also protecting the bay against excessive wind. Despite that, the beach is suitable for water pleasures and sports of all kinds. Those who prefer to move on dry land can use the grounds for ball games and attractions for children. The adults can have fun at night in the bars and discos with live or recorded music.

Near Galissas, there is another interesting beach called Armeos in a small blue bay, which has a completely diffeerent character though. It is more intimate and provides more privacy. It doesn.t offer any services but will delight all searching for peace or bathing naked. The beach can be accessed by land and by sea on a boat or a scooter.

What to do in Galissas

The town with the beach is an inspiring place for walks and some shopping, or also refreshment in some of the local tavernas. Don’t forget to visit the remains of the old fortifications and the protectve castle on the hills above the beach, and the chapel of Agias Pakou with a beautiful view on the surroundings.
