Theatre and drama are an inherent part of the Greek history, and so, you can also find a theatre on such an important island as Thassos. It is a stone theatre that has been preserved in the island capital. It was built more than 2000 years ago and at its time, it could accommodate several thousands of spectators. Its original appearance was changed by the Romans who rebuilt it into a gladiator arena. Today the theatre is a place where concerts and other cultural events are held.
