Kamares Aqueduct
This well-preserved aqueduct from the 16th century is located in the interior town of Kavala. Its name is derived from the Greek word ´kamares´, meaning ´archs´. In the past, this Roman edifice was a part of the town fortification, and till 1911, it supplied Kavala with drinking water from the nearby Pangeasus mountains.
