Laganas
The Laganas Beach is a large bay with shallow and warmed water and beautiful gently sloping sandy beaches. The beach is one of the most visited ones on the island, and so, it can be a bit overcrowded. Towards the east, you can walk up to the beach of Kalamaki. The beach is obviously equipped with umbrellas and deckchairs, showers, toilets, and you can refresh yourself in some of the tavernas lining the main part. If you are lucky, you can have a truly extraordinary experience - the beach is a place where the turtle species of Caretta Caretta come late at night to lay their eggs, just like on the neighbouring beach of Kalamaki. The highest occurrence of the eggs is in June, but you can see a turtle even later during the summer and try to swim next to one.
