The museum with exhibits from different eras of Zakynthos history is located in the very island capital on Solomos Square. Its collections include mainly religious works of art and paintings by famous regional painters from various historical eras. The edifice of the museum is relatively new as it was only built after a devastating earthquake in the 1950s. It is open daily except Mondays and national holidays and it can be accessed for a fee. The entrance is for free for students and children, as well as on open days (mostly Sundays except the summer season).
