Gero Gombos lighthouse

The 58 m high lighthouse of Gero Gombos located at 13 m a.s.l. was built in 1907on the coast of Cephalonia near the town of Lixouri, a popular holiday resort. It served to guide ships so that they could navigate on the sea safely, and it was used before being destroyed by German troops. The new Gero Gombos was built in the place in 1947, serving more as a home of sea birds and a target of hiking tours. There are several paths leading to it. The place itself has its particular charm and there is a nice view on Lixouri and its surroundings.
