Lixouri
Lixouri Resort
The attractive typical Greek resort of Lixouri is a very significant place on Cephalonia, being the administrative centre of the north-western tip of Paliki, and the second largest town on the island, with a stretegic position opposite the capital of Argostoli. Despite being razed to the ground after a devastating earthquake in the 1950s with very few of the original architecture being preserved, it could be restored so that it could offer to the visitors everything they expect from a summer holiday in Greece.
Lixouri background
Depite its significance in the region and the whole island, Lixouri is a rather peaceful resort intended mainly for those yearning for undisturbed peace and relaxation in the glare of the hot sun and along the coast of the deep blue sea. It is for its very beaches covered with soft sand that the resort is popular among families with children. All-day idling, bathing and an evening sit-down in a taverna or a walk in the starlight are simply a remedy for the soul.

The sand there is reddish and the entry into the water long and very gentle, therefore completely safe for less experienced swimmers and small children. To practice water sports, you ought to go to some of the other nearby beaches.
