near the town of Lassi, about 3 km from the island capital of Argostoli, there is a place called Katavothres. It is a particular place from the geological point of view: in the rocks, there are openings through which the sea water enters, appearing on the opposite side of the island after a few days, near the Melissani Lake and the village of Karavomilos. This mystery hasn´t been solved till nowadays. In the past, the stream of water was so strong that it could propel two mill-wheels, and so, Katavothres also became famous under the name of sea water mills. You can still find there two rusty wheels marking the place.
