Monastery on the Mount Pantokrator
On the very highest peak of the island, Pantokrator (906 m), a male monastery from the 14th century rises majestically. Like many other religious buildings on the island, this monastery also went through bleak history. Built in 1689 on the ruins of the forher monastery of Antigavdon, it was damaged in the 16th century, and then restored one hundred years later; so, its current appearance only comes from the 17th century. The monastery is hiding many religious objects, paintings, icons and frescoes mainly from the era after its reconstruction. Besides historical objects, thanks to its position at high altitude, you can also savour a beautiful view of the wide surroundings.

Jak se tam dostat
The Mount Pantokrator can be found in the north of Corfu. Up to a certain height, you can get by car, by then you need to continue walking, which can be quite a demanding climb on a hot day. Yet you will be rewarded by an unforgettable view of the sea and the surrounding island, and ibviously the famous monastery.
