Lakones
Lakones village
Lakones is a small mountain village where time seems to have stopped. The remains of the sometimes run-down buildings and local women in their traditional black dresses impart the particular atmosphere and authenticity to this place. From Lakones, tere is one of the most beautiful views on the whole Paleokastritsa with the port and boats, and also the villlages of Gardelades and Liapades in the distance. According to a legend, Odysseus, exhausted after the Trojan War, came to the place to draw new energy, and the popular Greek singer Reina Vlachapoulou wrote a song about the lookout. Today Lakones has about 750 permanent inhabitants of whom most work Paleokastritsa during the summer months.
