Vassiliki Resort

Surfers´ and water sports paradise - this is how the resort of Vassiliki could be described briefly, located in a vast bay on the green south coast of Lefkada. Despite being originally an ordinary fishing village, today it is a recreational resort will all kinds of facilities, it is even ranked among the most popular on the island. You can stay there in all kinds of facilities depending on your budget, including hotels or pensions but also campsites.

The main local beach is long, formed by a layer of little stones and pebbles (although there are sandy beaches, too), with a nice and gentle slope into the sea everywhere. Those who love (sun)bathing can rent an umbrella and a deckchair, while the more active ones will be literally delighted by the sports facilities in the place. Thanks to the strong wind, the resort is optimal for windsurfing and paragliding. Those who are seriously interested in those sports, there are trained instructors in special schools and training centres. You will also find there rental services where you can rent all the equipment needed. Near the beach, there are also bars and tavernas where you can refresh yourself.

If you want to be a bit further fro the crowds of tourists, set off to the surroundings. You will find there small, more intimate beaches (altough some of them can be full of holidaymakers as well).

On the coast, you will be able to satisfy your sweet tooth. Many of the traditional tavernas and restaurants serve seafood, fish, and lamb and chicken meat, while the local shops offer handmade products, souvenirs, foodstuffs and articles of daily use.

Life in Vassiliki after the sunset is really varied, with its wide range of bars and night clubs. You can have fun dancing and listening to music all night long, or sit in a calm pub over a glass of good wine. If you don´t really enjoy neiher sunbathing, swimming in the sea, surfing nor night entertainment, set off on dry land to the island interior. The region around Vassiliki is quite lowland, therefore perfect for undemanding hiking, cycling and horse riding. There is a public transport both to the capital and the nearby islands, assured both by buses and ferries.
