Mykonos (Chora) - the capital
Mykonos (Chora)
The capital of Mykonos, just like most of other island metropolises, is also called Hora or Chora. It stretches in its full beauty on the west coast, which is where administration, trade, culture and entertainment on the island are concentrated.
The town´s landmark are a few old windmills laid out one next to another above white houses stretching from the port on an undulating slope. If you set out from the island landmarks to the crooked streets, you will be fascinated by the snow-white pureness of the facades, the colours of the little balconies and a great number of imprecise lines, endowing the place with a completely unique character, Walk down up to the port, the Small Venice, which is a name for the few adorable houses built so closely to the coast that their walls are washed by the sea waves, just like in Venice in Italy.
