Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi

The Byzantine monastery was built in 1756 in the place of the then basilica. Its interior can boast mural painting, a dome supported by columns, and a beautiful gilded wooden icon. Another part worth noticing is its wooden door formed by little pieces symbolizing the 365 days of a year. It is not only the monastery which is exceptional but also its surroundings - there is a splendid panoramic view on Turkey, divided from Samos only by a thin stretch of sea.
