Agios Fokas
Agios Fokas Resort
Agios Fokas, a lively and frequently sought-after resort can be found on the east coast of Kos a little less than 10 km from the capital. From its coast, you can see up to Turkey. Agios Fokas has a good position near the island capital where you can get walking on the coast along the beaches, tavernas and little shops. On your way, you will also see hotels scattered along the seacoast; but there is also private accommodation in the resort. When arriving at the capital, you will be able to enjoy many options of catering, shopping and entertainment.
What to do in Agios Fokas?
Given the intense volcanic activity in the region, there are hot underground springs in the resort flowing into a natural sea swimming pool formed by little rocks where you can immerse yourself into a bath. The temperature of the springs reaches up to 50°C and they are salty and totally clear with no smell. To transport yourself in the surroundings, you can rent a car or a motorbike, or the local public transport. Kos is the island of historical sites, so, if you are interested in archaeology and museums, you won´t really get bored.
Agios Fokas beaches
On the tiny beach in the resort, although it doesn´t offer such comfort like other more commercial destinations, you can relax in peace and indulge in summer idling, sunbathing and swimming in the sea. Besides that, in the surroundings you can find plenty of small bays but also rather big beaches. Most of them are covered with sand or pebbles, or a mix of both. Their water is always crystal clear and has a beautiful blue colour. On the seabed, there can be sharp stones though, so, water shoes are recommended.
