Kardamena
Kardamena Resort
The Kardamena resort with a beach of the same name can be found on the green south coast of Kos a little less than 30 km from the island capital. This well-known and popular recreational resort pertaining to the Dodecanese is the second largest on the island, and the level of its accommodation and catering services is really high. In the Kardamena region, you will find both economical accommodation in private suites and pensions but also very luxurious four or five star hotel complexes with their own swimming pools and other above standard services. Kardamena is renowned for its rich nightlife - dance and entertainemnt in bars and night or dancing clubs or pubs till the morning are not exceptional, with some of the night venues being open 24/7.
Kardamena beaches
The Kardamena beach can boast its length of more than 4 kilometres (which makes it the longest beach on the island). What is more, it is covered by fine white and goldish sand and washed by beautifully clean sky-blue waters of the Aegean Sea. For your comfort, you will find there umbrellas and deckchairs. Except for sunbathing, you can also immerse yourself into the nice sea bath, or choose some of the water sports if you like to move - e.g. water skiing, paddle boats, riding a boat or a banana boat, and more. The crystal clear water and magnificent seabed are also tempting to go diving and snorkelling, while the number of fish will delight passionate fishermen.
What to do in Kardamena and surroundings?
If you don´t really enjoy bathing in the sea too much, you can make use of the public swimming pools close to bars or other refreshment facilities, or visit a new water park few kilometres away from Kardamena. Those who prefer activities on dryland will be delighted by the go-kart track near the resort, or horse riding. The resort has many tavernas and restaurants, most of them offering fish and seafood. There is also a wide variety of shops. Those of a more adventurous nature or those who simply get weary of idling on the beach can set off for a trip to the surroundings, e.g. to the little island of Nisyros you can see from the coast of Kardamena. It is a geological formation that was formed by volcanic activity, in fact it has a volcano on it, and so is a bit mysterious. The volcano is extinct but still you will feel some respect for the mother nature when descending to its interior.
