Imerovigli
Imerovigli Resort
The village of Imerovigli, one of the most beautiful traditional settlements on Santorini, can be found on the north-west coast only 2 km from the capital of Fira. Its houses are scattered on the slope and the ridge of the mountain range called Skaros, sloping up to the sea depths. Given the high altitude of the place, during your stay in the village, you can feast your eyes on the magnificent landscape with the volcanic formations in the sea that will literally take your breath away. In the past the perfect view from the island helped the inhabitants to spot the raiders and pirates on time, today it brings joy to the tourists, especially during sunset.
Why Imerovigli?
The whole village stands out for its charming architecture formed by white houses with blue ornamentation, small churches, hotels and tavernas. The village landmark are the remains of a Venetian fortress from the 13th century that was quite significant at that time. There is just as much of everything as you need - enough accommodation capacity in the hotels and private rooms, there are restaurants and bars, shops with articles of daily use, but no loud discos. Imerovigli is as oasis of peace where you can experience perfect romanticism. Maybe this is why the place is so popular among couples in love.
Imerovigli beaches
Despite not being a typical recreation resort, as it doesn’t tempt its visitors for vast beaches and all-day bathing in the sea, Imerovigli certainly has something to offer. It is visited mainly for its beauties of nature, magnificent sceneries with sunsets, and nice relaxation in the Greek style. Nonetheless, if you want to refresh yourself in the sea water, in the more remote surroundings, you will find several beaches, especially on the east and south coast. If you rent a car, it won’t be difficult to get there within a few minutes. The closest one if the Paradisi Beach (a beach with grey sand and rocky scenery), then Kamari (a dark pebbly beach), Perissa (a beach with very dark, almost black pebbles), Monolithos (a beach with a mountainous scenery, dark sand, few tourists and quite a strong wind), and finally the red and the White Beach, boasting tiwh impressive surroundings formed by rocks and sand of their respective colours.
