Anaxos Resort

The nice and peaceful resort located far from loud music blaring out from the discos near the beaches, and still close to other places in case you got a hankering for a bit of excitement after several days of carefree idling on the beach. All that is Anaxos, an increasingly popular place among the tourists, hidden in a picturesque bay. It is located on the north-west of the island near other popular resorts of Petra, Molivos a Eftalou with regular bus connection to the resort.

The beach in Anaxos is covered by rather coarse goldish sand with little pebbles here and there, and so, water shoes are recommended. Yet bathing in the clean and blue waters is magical and really enjoyable. Even during the high season,  the beach is not overcrowded, so you can always find there your calm place for holiday relaxation. In most places, the beach surface slopes down to the depth really gently, thus being safe both for children and unexperienced swimmers, which is maybe why Anaxos is a popular target of family holidays. The visitors can rent there umbrellas and deckchairs. In general both the beach and water are very clean, which is also why the beach has been awarded the EU Blue Flag for top quality. Yet you should be wary of the rather strong wind which can appear from time to time, raising waves and sand. Those who like to spend their holiday actively will be delighted by the choice of water sports. If you don´t enjoy too much swimming in the sea, there are also swimming pools but you are supposed to buy some refreshment in their bars. 

What to do in Anaxos

You should definitely taste traditional Greek dishes and delicious colourful drinks in some of the nice restaurants, tavernas and bars. All the catering facilities there are calm, with no loud music. You can also get there souvenirs but there is a better choice a few kilometres away in the surrounding resorts. Those who like to enjoy their privacy can set off to explore the coast with many little bays and secluded places waiting just for you. The best option is to rent some means of transport like a car or a motorbike.

You can also make a walking trip to Petra, for example. The way takes about 40 minutes and the path it illuminated during the night.
