Karlovassi Resort

Karlovassi, one of the largest and most popular resorts of Samos, can be found on the west coast. It owes its size and historical diversity to the fact that it used to be the most important settlement on the island in the past. Today it is one of the main tourist destinations, being a lively place full of culture and history.

The whole region where the romantic port town of Karlovassi is located boasts its omnipresent green vegetation - hills covered with pine trees and olive groves. It is a wine-growing region, and so, you can often observe vast fields of vineyards there. From the flood of greenrey, little white houses with red roofs are peeping out, together with the edifices of the old town, churches and chapels completing the mosaic of the local beauties. Those who don´t care about climbing rather steep hills can enjoy a magnificent view on the landscape.

Beaches in Karlovassi are formed by long stretches of sand and pebbles. The water there is perfectly clean and boasts its amazing blue colour. Of course, you will also find there water sports to sweat a bit. When you get tired, go and refresh yourself in some of the nearby tavernas or bars.

Since Karlovassi is a university town, therefore a lively place with a great variety of culture and entertainment, there are lots of tavernas, bars, clubs, and spots tempting especially the youth to dance and listen to music. Nonetheless, those who don´t have a liking for this kind of fun can find their calm place in a nice and café or a restaurant. You will certainly choose from the menu as the offer is really varied - you will find there borth fastfood restaurants but also traditional and international cuisine, and gastronomic facilities for gourmets with a fat wallet. Also in the local shops, you can buy everything you need, including gifts and souvenirs but also drinks, foodstuffs, and more. If the offer in Karlovassi doesn´t satisfy you, set off to the island capital. You can get there by a public bus and Karlovassi also has bus connection to Pythagorion.

Given its position, Karlovassi is a perfect point of departure to make trips. If you like hiking, you can walk up to the local waterfall, or explore the picturesque coast as well as the green landscape in the interior. If you want to travel across the sea, you can go to Turkey or some of the nearby islands.
