Afitos
Afitos
The village of Afitos is located in the north-east of the peninsular promontory of Kassandra in the western part of the Chalkidiki peninsula. It is a picturesque place with typical Greek architecture, perfect both for nice walks in the narrow streets and summer relaxation at the sea. With its position on a rock, it also has a beautiful view on the coast, the sea, and the nearby peninsula of Sithonia.
Despite being one of the most popular and most frequently visited resorts on the peninsula, Afitos is trying to preserve its original character. After all, the local settlement is one of the oldest on the island - it emerged as early as 3 000 years ago and even bore the same name. In Afitos you will find refreshment facilities like tavernas and restaurants offering local specialities, and accommodation in the local hotels and pensions.
Afitos beaches
Once you leave Afitos and walk down on the slope to the bay and its surroundings, you will arrive at local beaches. Those are quite small but cosy, offering peace and undisturbed relaxation. The entry into the sea is very gentle and the water there is ranked among the cleanest and the warmest in the whole Mediterranean. The perfect scenery is completed by the surrounding green vegetation, stone pine groves, and the rocks protruding from the sea depths. You can also discover more beaches located in other villages nearby.
