Polichrono
Polichrono
Polichrono, or the ‘very old town’, is located on the east coast of the westernmost promontory of Chalkidiki, Kassandra, about 60 km from the capital of Polygyros. The coast of the resort is washed by the Aegean Sea. The lively tourist resort offers a range of service for its visitors; including accommodation in modern hotels and gastronomic services in the local restaurants, bars and tavernas, and especially the long sandy beach with clean water for the perfect holiday relaxation. Its surface is formed by coarse sand and bathing there is completely safe both for children and non swimmers or those who are not very confident about their swimming skills as the seabed slopes down only gently.
What to do in Polichrono
In the past the town experienced lots of bleak times being destroyed by devastating fires or its ennemies, yet it always recovered so that it could welcome the tourists and show them some of its many beauties. Therefore it is interesting to observe how the town has managed to recuperate without the marks of any disasters being seen anywhere. The houses in the village look like new, showing the marks of traditonal Greek architecture including stone walls, balconies and red roofs. Obviously you will find there tavernas, fastfood restaurants, markets with groceries but also souvenir shops.
