Gerakini

The Gerakini resort can be found halfway between the western and the eastern ‘finger’ of the peninsula, i.e. Kassandra and Sithonia. It is a relatively peaceful resort with nice beaches and clean sea. The Gerakini resort is especially suitable for families with children, since the local beaches are really safe. Also the local restaurants have their services adapted for the children and offer small portions. Yet the resort can be enjoyed by visitors of all age groups.

Entertainment in Gerakini

Accommodation facilities include hotels, bugalows and private pensions. In the town, you will find shops with all the basic goods including groceries and souvenirs, and quality food in the local tavernas, bars and restaurants; yet for a top quality service, you need to go to the island capital of Polygyros located a few kilometres away. Also if you search for lively nightlife, Gerakini is not exactly the place for that, so, you will need to look around for a different place. Gerakini becomes lively at night but not because of alcohol parties till the early morning hours but more night walks on the beach, and in some of the recreational facilities also Greek parties with traditional music and live performances.

The beach in the resort is a wide one, covered with fine hot sand. The water there is splendid blue and crystal clear, yet with a jellyfish or a sea urchin here and there, from which you need to protect yourself wearing suitable water shoes. On the beach you can practice both land and water sports.

Like other parts of Chalkidiki, the surrounding little peninsulas of Kassandra and Sithonia offer enough possibilities to go for a trip. The best option is to rent a bicycle, a motorbike or a car, and set off to explore the surroundings on your own. About one hour from Gerakini, there is a waterpark appreciated especially by the children.
